3D Printing, also known as Additive Manufacturing is the new age manufacturing method that enables you to produce 3D models data by putting layer upon layer, joining & solidifying the material in a computer-controlled environment to create a three-dimensional object.

3D Printing is the answer to all the problems which a business faces on a time-to-time basis. This method helps in increasing manufacturing speed, reducing lead time, low wastage, low production cost, low labour cost and so much more.

In the textile industry, 3D printed material is replacing the fabric thereby leading to customized, innovative & eco-friendly dress. Taking leverage of this, fashion industries are emerging into the new era of utilizing various shapes, sizes, and abstracts to produce dresses which are never seen before. These dresses hardly use any fabric and thus are becoming fashion icons in the industry.

There are ample ways through which industries are using 3D printing. Let us look at them:

Fashion Supplements

Producing in-house or outsourcing the traditional embellishments, buttons, rings, hooks etc which takes more time & efforts to produce & assemble than the 3d printed small end-use supplements. These supplements can be printed within a matter of a couple of hours without causing any wastage.

Fashion Accessories

Instead of using metal, plastic & glass-based jewellery, necklaces, earrings, nose rings, brooch, bangles, hairclip, etc the 3D printing comes in handy. You can create any design that you want which suits your style. This helps in reducing the amount of pollution that we cause by giving an eco-friendly alternative.

Prototyping

Just like the prototypes of cars are produced to test drive & see its efficiency, similarly, the prototypes of dresses & footwears are also produced to see the size-fit, functionality & effectiveness. But in this testing process, lots of fabric is used which becomes of no use. There is still no-good way of disposing them off or to recycle them. Hence, to test the product right from the preliminary to the final stage, 3D printing comes in handy. This saves a lot of resources from going to waste.

Creating Your Avatar

If you want to see how the clothes/footwear or other wearables would look on you without trying them out, then 3D printing is the solution. You can create your exact replica and see how the dresses suit you. Moreover, these avatars can then be used as mannequins, models, promotional campaigns, etc.

Producing Uniquely designed clothes

These days, high-end fashion designers are preferring 3d printed dresses over traditional ones because of their highly customizable & innovative designs.
